California moves a large share of the country’s freight, and almost every load type a dispatcher handles starts or ends here. Port containers in Los Angeles, Long Beach and Oakland, warehouse freight across the Inland Empire, and produce and reefer loads out of the Central Valley all need dispatchers who know the lanes.
In one-on-one truck dispatch training, live online from anywhere in California or in person at our Tracy and Fresno campuses, you practise dry van, reefer, flatbed, box truck and intermodal dispatching on these real lanes—and learn the California rules carriers ask about, so you are useful to carriers in-state and out of state.

California training programs
One program, live on Zoom or in person in Tracy and Fresno. Everything below is included.
Both options are the same program with the same ratio: one instructor, one student. The only difference is whether you sit beside your instructor or join a live video call.
Live online training suits anyone in Los Angeles, San Diego, the Bay Area, Sacramento or the Inland Empire, and anyone working around a job. Your instructor shares a live load board on screen, you work real postings and practise broker calls, and you get corrected as you go.
In-person training at our Tracy or Fresno campus suits people who want someone beside them the first time they open a load board. It is still one-on-one, never a group class.
Training is one-on-one, so the pace follows you. Most students finish the core program in three to four weeks, and you practise on real California freight from the first week.
Protecting your carrier is part of it. Before you book, you check a broker’s authority and bond with our free freight broker verification tool.
Carriers run different equipment, and each trailer type books, prices and goes wrong in its own way. Whether you train live online or at our Tracy or Fresno campus, your instructor works through each one with you, one-on-one, using real postings on the DAT and Truckstop load boards.
California grows more fresh produce than any other state, so reefer freight out of Salinas, Fresno and the Imperial Valley is a big part of this module. You learn to book it, price it and keep it on time.
California open-deck freight runs on construction, solar and steel. You learn to book flatbed and step-deck loads and plan around Caltrans oversize permit rules.
Box trucks work California’s dense metro markets: the Bay Area, Sacramento and Los Angeles. You learn to keep a 26-foot straight truck busy with local and regional freight.
The ports of Oakland, Los Angeles and Long Beach move a huge share of U.S. container freight. This module covers drayage from the terminal gate to rail ramps and warehouses in the Inland Empire and Central Valley.
This is practical freight dispatcher training. Every tool below is practised live in your one-on-one sessions, not watched on a recording.
If you want your own dispatch company, the business track walks you through it step by step: registering the business, building your carrier packet, writing a dispatch service agreement and finding your first carriers. You do the filings yourself, with your instructor guiding you, so you understand every document with your name on it. After the core training, mentorship continues for up to three months.
Wherever you live in California, you get the same program: live sessions with your own instructor, a working dispatcher. Online students train from home with exactly the same one-on-one attention. If you prefer a desk beside your instructor, our campuses are in Tracy and Fresno.
The CA number and the Motor Carrier Permit. A carrier hauling property for hire inside California needs a CA identification number from the CHP and a Motor Carrier Permit from the DMV before it runs intrastate. If your carrier does not have one, the intrastate load you just booked cannot legally move.
Clean Truck Check. CARB’s heavy-duty inspection and maintenance program covers nearly all diesel and alternative-fuel vehicles over 14,000 pounds GVWR on California roads, including trucks registered in other states. A truck that is not compliant can be stopped, and that is your load sitting still.

What do dispatchers earn? It depends on how you work (company dispatcher, a percentage per load or a flat weekly fee) and how many trucks you handle. Yes. The live one-on-one program runs online, so students in Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, the Bay Area and the Inland Empire train from home with the same instructor attention. In-person training is available at our Tracy and Fresno campuses.
Yes. Dispatching is phone and computer work, so many dispatchers work from home, from Los Angeles and the Inland Empire to the Central Valley and the Bay Area. You can dispatch your own trucks, start an independent dispatch service, or apply for remote dispatcher roles. We teach the skills and help with business setup; we do not promise a job or income.
Only the location. The program, the instructor and the one-on-one format are the same. Online, you join live video sessions from home and your instructor shares a live load board on screen. In person, you sit beside your instructor at our Tracy or Fresno campus.
Yes. The business track walks you through registering your company, building a carrier packet and dispatch agreement, and finding your first carriers. You complete the filings yourself with your instructor guiding you.
Yes. Your sessions include hands-on practice on the DAT and Truckstop load boards: searching lanes, reading broker credit and pricing loads, with your instructor watching and correcting you.
Most students finish the core one-on-one training in three to four weeks, at their own pace. After that you get three months of mentorship and one year of support while you start dispatching.
Always one-on-one. Every session is one instructor with one student, online or in person. There are no group classes and no cohort to wait for.
No. California does not license truck dispatchers. Arranging freight for carriers you do not work for and taking a percentage is freight brokering, which requires FMCSA broker authority and a surety bond.
